Eye Test for Driving License

Eye test requirements for Kuwait driving license applications and renewals: vision standards, approved clinics, validity period, and what to bring.

An approved eye test is mandatory before issuing or renewing a Kuwait driving license. The General Department of Traffic accepts certificates only from MOI-authorised optical centres and clinics — general hospital letters may not qualify unless listed on the official approved list.

What the test checks

  • Visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses)
  • Field of vision and basic colour recognition where required
  • Whether glasses or contact lenses must be noted on your license

How to get the certificate

  1. Visit an MOI-approved eye centre (optician or clinic on the official list).
  2. Bring Civil ID and mention the test is for driving license purposes.
  3. Complete the examination — usually 10–15 minutes.
  4. Receive a stamped report valid for a limited period (confirm expiry before your MOI appointment).

Tips for applicants

If you wear glasses, take them to the test and ensure your prescription is current. Renewals may require a new eye test even if your vision has not changed. Schedule the eye test close to your theory or renewal date so the certificate does not expire before MOI accepts it.

After clearing medical checks, book your theory test via our driving license test guide.
